Emperor’s bail canceled, order to surrender within 7 days
The High Court has canceled the bail of expelled president of Dhaka Metropolitan South Juba League Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat in a casino scandal case. On May 11, Dhaka Special Judge Court-6 Judge Al Asad Md. Asifuzzaman granted bail to the emperor in an ACC case alleging illegal acquisition of assets. The emperor was released from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital (BSMMU) on the same day after being granted bail in four cases filed against him. However, after his release, he remained in the hospital for treatment.
The court heard the lawyer for the ACC. Khurshid Alam Khan, and Mansurul Haque Chowdhury was the lawyer for the accused. On the other hand, Attorney General AM Amin Uddin and Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik represented the state.
Later, ACC lawyer Khurshid Alam told reporters that the court had granted bail to Ismail Chowdhury Samrat on medical grounds, but the rule was to call a medical report before granting bail, hold a hearing of both parties, but in this case did not do so. In the light of our statement, the High Court, considering the matter, canceled his bail.
The RAB arrested the emperor from Chauddagram in Comilla on October 7, 2019 in a casino incident. After that, four cases were filed against the emperor on charges of arms, drugs and money laundering.
