Satya Nadela, the company’s chief executive officer (CEO), has announced that the budget will be ‘almost doubled’ to increase the salaries of employees.
The decision was made to retain employees and help them cope with inflation, according to a report by technology news outlet Geekware.
Nadella said in an e-mail sent to Microsoft staff that the increased merit wage would double the global budget.
Nadela said Microsoft would invest more money in the early and middle stages of employees’ careers.
Asked about the move in an e-mail, a Microsoft spokesman told CNBC: “People come and work at Microsoft because of our mission and culture.
This means they find work that suits their minds and they are rewarded the way they work with them.
