Police have recovered the body of Israfil Hossain Ifat (14), a student of Hefaz department in Feni. His body was recovered from the sidewalk of Misbahul Quran Was Sunnah Madrasa building in Police Lines area of the city on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Israfil Hossain Ifat, son of Oman expatriate from Sat Gharia village under Jagannath union of Chauddagram upazila of Comilla district. He is a student of Misbahul Quran Was Sunnah Madrasa Hefz Department in Police Lines area.

Madrasa headmaster Hafez Md. Yunus said Israfil left the madrasa five days ago. Though the madrasa authorities refused to keep him for safety reasons, his mother dropped him off at the madrasa last Friday. He was not seen in class on Saturday morning and was searched in different places. Later, when they saw his body lying on the side street of the building, they informed the police and they came and recovered the body.

Fayez Ullah, the uncle of the deceased, said that on Saturday morning, the headmaster of the madrasa called Israfil’s house and cut off the call asking his mother to come to the madrasa on an emergency basis. Later his mother came to the madrasa and saw his son’s body.

Feni Model Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Rahim Sarkar said it was initially believed that Israfil had fallen from the roof of a six-storey building of the madrasa and died. The body of the deceased has been sent to the morgue of Feni General Hospital for autopsy. A broken bucket was seized from the scene. The case is ongoing.
