Md. Russell Islam: BGB arrested a smuggler with 124 pitch gold bars from Jessore border while smuggling in India.

He was arrested in a raid in Kabilpur crematorium area inside Shahjadpur BOP in Chougachha on Friday morning. The detainee’s name is Shah Alam (35). His home is in Kabilpur village of Chougachha.

At a press conference on Friday afternoon, 49 BGB commander Lt. Col. Shahed Minhaj said the smuggler was riding a motorcycle in the guise of a farmer. He was searched on suspicion and 124 pitch gold bars were recovered in a specially hidden condition. Interrogation revealed that he had smuggled gold six times before. He was caught by the BGB during the seventh trafficking. The recovered gold weighed 14.450 kg. Its estimated market value is ten crore eleven lakh fifty thousand rupees. A motorcycle and a mobile phone were seized during the operation. Necessary legal action is being taken against the gold bar and the accused.
