After being cheated, the family finally approached the Laxmipur court. The judge took cognizance of the case and directed the PBI to investigate. Police said they were still at large as the gang had been in hiding since the incident. Meanwhile, the gang has been accused of embezzling lakhs of rupees through cheating with other people.
According to the victim’s family and locals, Md. Jewel. According to some sources, 9 members of the family used to make a living by fishing with their father. But they were targeted by her uncle Aleya Begum, a resident of Bhola district, and her cousin Awlad Hossain, who lives in Singapore. For this purpose they came to visit his brother’s house.
He offered to take Jewel to Singapore. At that time, Jewel’s family agreed to pay Tk 5 lakh for the offer of Tk 12 lakh. Later, he collected money by borrowing money from an NGO and his relatives and handed it over to them. Jewel was brought to Dhaka on April 28 for a flight to Singapore. Later, when he met his cousin at Shahjahal International Airport, his cousin flew him to Chittagong. He was then taken to a hotel where he was detained, forcing his family to tell him that he had arrived in Singapore. At one stage, he was brought back to Dhaka and dropped off at the Sayedabad bus terminal with three motorcycles, said Jewel.
Meanwhile, the poor family is now lost due to cheating. Jewel’s father Shahijal filed a case of fraud in the Laxmipur Judge’s Court on May 9 seeking justice for the incident.
The accused in the case are Shahejal Majhi’s sister Aleya Begum, nephew Awlad Hossain, Awlad’s brother-in-law Sunny, niece’s husband Shamim, nephew’s wife Ayesha and six others. It is learned that the court took cognizance of the case and directed the PBI to investigate.
In this regard, Jewel’s father Shahijal Majhi and his mother told the media, ‘We want the government to bring to justice the fraud that has been committed against us. They demanded that no one should fall into the trap of such fraud.
Meanwhile, locals say that another person named Manu Majhi from a nearby village has been cheated by the gang. The job of this cycle is to get money through fraud. They said that they change their address frequently in Dhaka.
Asked about this, Laxmipur Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Palash Kanti Nath said, “I have heard that a young man named Jewel has been sent to Chittagong to be taken to Singapore.” A case has been filed in the court and the matter has been investigated by the PBI. Police have not yet received any complaint (until 11:50 pm on May 15). The police official said that if any complaint is received, it will be investigated.
