Without emergency services, nothing will be open in Dhaka after 8 pm: Tapas
Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh said all shops and shopping malls in Dhaka would remain closed after 8 pm except for emergency services. He made the remarks at a press conference held at Nagar Bhaban on Monday (May 18) to mark the two-year anniversary of his appointment.

Mayor Tapas said that the capacity of Dhaka has exceeded all the limitations. There is no way to get rid of it quickly. Waste management and sewerage activities are being hampered. We want to solve this problem quickly. For this, all the shops and shopping malls in Dhaka have to be closed by 8 pm.

Only food shops will be open till 10 pm. In addition, emergency services, including drug stores, will be able to keep them open at convenient times. Shopping malls in other major cities of the world end their activities at a certain time, that is, between eight and nine o’clock at night.

We also have to take this initiative to restore order in Dhaka. Everyone’s cooperation is needed for this. He further said that in order to reduce the pressure on Dhaka, the Prime Minister’s election manifesto ‘My Village, My City’ plan needs to be implemented expeditiousl

This will greatly reduce the pressure on Dhaka. The sidewalks of Dhaka will be hawker free. That is why I will talk to all the stakeholders very soon. We want to start this activity from July 1.
